In the last year I have had two total knee replacements at Goring Hall as an NHS patient. The surgery was carried out by Mr Nirav Shah. The care I received from start to finish was outstanding. From the first phone call from Mr Shah’s secretary, I had no doubt that I was valued, would be treated well and would receive superb care. She kept in touch with me throughout the time before and after both surgeries and was extremely polite, friendly and efficient. I knew that I could go to her with any queries, which I did, and she helped and reassured me. At my pre-assessment both nurses were kind, efficient, patient and treated me with the utmost respect. They explained everything in detail to me and reassured me about what was going to happen.I therefore went in to hospital feeling confident When in hospital for my surgery the nurses were all compassionate and understanding and I received superb care. Mr Shah visited me prior to my surgery on both occasions and also the next day to see how I was. He was reassuring and I could tell he really cares about is patients. Both times I had my surgeries I was visited daily by excellent physiotherapists. They were knowledgeable and compassionate whilst still setting me challenges.I also saw the same physios as an outpatient which provided continuity and gave me confidence. All the staff, including doctors, nurses porters, students and cleaners were exceptionally, polite, caring and empathetic. The food at all the meals was of an extremely high standard. I cannot speak highly enough of the care and treatment I received at Goring Hall.

I have had several operations at Goring Hall and always found all of the staff to be very kind, efficient and generous. The hospital itself is very modern and comfortable, even in the day care unit I felt as if I was in my own private space. Definitely recommend this hospital.

Great team of people with some excellent Nurses & Physio department

Goring Hall Hospital provides en suite private rooms with pleasesnt views and are well equipped.The beds are comfortable and have patient operated positional mechanism. The nurse call system was always promptly answered day or night. The Nursing staff are well informed-polite helpful and cheerfull. The resident Doctor called regularly to check my well being. There have been improvements in the out patient waiting area over the last 18 months but it is still quite crampted (with uncomfortable chairs) as the consultants are often late with appointments meaning more seats are required for patients. The waiting area in the imaging suite is very good and the staff prompt with x rays imaging etc. The Physiotherapists provide excellent continuity of care,and I felt very confident with thier advice and supervision. The Pharmacy provides a very good service.

My only criticism is one staff member, a nurse from New Zealand, made me feel totally inadequate and an inconvenience. Having had no sleep for two nights, in considerable pain and no control of my bladder this nurse told me had I not had so much pain relief I wouldn’t have been sleepy and could have made it to the toilet. I have extremely high blood pleasure due to pain and a lovely oriental nurse looked after me all night I was unable to make it to the bathroom to relieve my bladder. This nurses comments, I didn’t expect under the circumstances or appreciate. Apart from this nurse, every other member of staff went above and beyond to ensure my needs were met.
